Counselling and Psychotherapy

Everyone has times in their lives when they are struggling. Whether it is dealing with past issues that are affecting your day-to-day functioning, or present crisis, there is support. Through our work together we will identify areas you would like to work on and strategize how to make that happen. We will develop your coping strategies and find your inner strengths and resilience to help you develop the best version of yourself. The work might not always be easy but it will be worth it. I will be with you encouraging you to overcome the hurdles that have prevented you from becoming the person you are meant to be. The primary goal of therapy is to address and manage emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges, as well as promote personal growth and well-being. It’s essential to remember that therapy is not solely for individuals with diagnosable mental health conditions. Seeking therapy can also be a proactive step toward personal growth, self-improvement, and enhancing overall well-being. Therapists provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and concerns, develop coping strategies, and work toward their goals.

The term Psychotherapy can be used interchangeably with terms “counselling” and “therapy”.

When Seeing a Therapist could be beneficial:

  • Diagnosis (looking for tools in addition to medication or other treatments)
  • Support around decision making
  • Mental Health Concerns (depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or other mood and thought disorders)
  • Emotional Distress (grief and loss, anger issues, overwhelming stress, or persistent sadness)
  • Relationship Problems: (communication problems, conflicts, or issues related to trust and intimacy)
  • Addiction and Substance Abuse
  • Self-Exploration and Personal Growth (gain insight into oneself, improve self-esteem, develop self-confidence, and work on personal goals and aspirations)
  • Parenting Challenges: (effective parenting strategies, managing parenting stress, or addressing issues related to child behavior)
  • Coping with Chronic Illness: (managing the emotional and psychological challenges associated with chronic health conditions such as cancer, diabetes, or chronic pain)
  • Work-Related Stress: (manage stress, burnout, or conflicts in the workplace, and to develop effective coping strategies)
  • Family Conflicts: (to address family conflicts, improve family dynamics, and facilitate communication among family members)
